IMAGINE IF THIS POOL LEAKED
Thanks to XL Services' close work with the pool company, ProLinePool.com, the proud homeowner got the pool of his dreams, the one that others said couldn’t be built. XL Services negotiated a first of its kind testing protocol with the City of Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety for the six inch thick glass walls that were a unique installation in the City of Los Angeles. Under careful scrutiny by our principal consultant, the tri-level hillside pool successfully passed all required testing.

MAN FALLS THROUGH SKYLIGHT
After falling nearly 27 feet to the ground below, an HVAC unit technician miraculously survived his fall due in large part to the cushioning created by a stack of cardboard boxes. This near fatal accident required careful and deliberate investigation into the reasons it occurred. XL Services was called upon to determine the cause for the accident including industry standards and safety regulations that may have been violated.

SLIPPERY WHEN WET
ADA laws are now 20 years old and continue to evolve as equal rights to access increase and become more specific. "According to the 2004 American Community Survey, more than 51 million Americans have some form of disability, and over 2.7 million people over the age of 15 use a wheelchair. As the population ages and medical advances allow people with disabilities to live longer lives, this number will increase." - Washington, Aug. 9 / PRNewswire-USNewswire.
As a Certified Accessibility Inspector and Plan Examiner, XL Services provides detailed inspections, audits and assessments relating to accessibility requirements by both Federal and local regulations. In the tradition of "no job is too big or too small," we perform one issue investigations and the most complex, from single family dwellings to large scale multi-unit developments and commercial buildings.

ROOF NIGHTMARE
Most consultants would turn around and run away from this complex roofing project, not us. With nearly 1,000 penetrations, roofing leaks galore, and an occupied building requiring all 120 air conditioning units to function without a shut down, XL Services took on the challenge to design an effective re-roofing protocol and oversee the construction which included both a multilevel built up system and a raised seam metal roof. We are proud to say this nightmare had a happy ending.

IMPLEMENTATION AND QUALITY CONTROL OF OUR SOLUTIONS TO MASSIVE EXTERIOR ENVELOPE DEFECTS
This 120 unit residential building was only two years old when the exterior envelope began to leak like a sieve. Doors, windows, balconies, roof, pool deck, subterranean garage and exterior details were the source of constant moisture intrusion causing problems such as wood rot, staining, flooding, damage to personal property and reduction in the value of the individual units and the building itself. XL Services was hired as consultants to the general contractor making the repairs to this building. This two year project required numerous directives and site specific recommendations in order to facilitate the repairs. This service included working closely with local building authorities and other design professionals, on site training, quality control inspections, and providing written specifications and details of custom repair solutions.
"XL Services is in the business of problem solving. It's our job to figure it out to end your aggravation."
WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO
We love to investigate and resolve problems. We do this equally well performing as a solo expert or as part of a team of experts. There is no greater professional satisfaction than finding solutions and resolution for our clients. The issues are diverse but they all have one thing in common: they are all construction related.
Someone walked along a sidewalk and was a victim of a trip and fall on that sidewalk. Was that sidewalk built correctly? Did it meet building codes and industry standards?
It rained hard during the past winter and someone discovered an ugly stain around a north facing window. Is the stain the result of bad construction? Or was the window left open during the rain?
A tree fell across the roof of a small house causing extensive damage. What is the best way to repair the damage, and how much will it cost?
An air conditioning mechanic was working on a roof conducting regular maintenance on a roof mounted condenser, suddenly he falls through a skylight. Unfortunately he did not survive his injuries and died three days later. Why did he fall through the skylight? and who is at fault?
A wheelchair bound individual was visiting a store. The store has two levels. He can only shop on the lower floor level and cannot reach the upper level. Is the store in compliance with ADA regulations? If not, what will be necessary to bring it up to compliance?
A person buys a building and claims he was not notified of a pre-existing condition. Was this an oversight by the pre-acquisition inspector? Was this an open and obvious issue? Should the buyer's or seller's real estate agent have disclosed the item? Or, was this a condition that occurred after the sale?
It's our job to investigate and authoritatively answer these questions.
No matter how small or large the problem, after resolving the issue the feeling is often the same: We did something positive today. If it is litigation related then we have the additional burden of finding the best way to keep our clients out of the courtroom and assist in finding a resolution through mediation or other non-litigation process. If the courtroom is the forum of last resort, then we will provide intelligent, easy to understand, and clear testimony. With over two thousand cases behind us we have reached a comfortable place knowing that we can and do find the answers for our clients.
